Nobody feels neutral about them you either love 'em or hate 'em.

They are at the same time the most revered and most reviled team in major league baseball. They are indisputably the team of the century, with a four game sweep of the National League's best (their second in a row). They did it with nary a 40 home run hitter on the staff, just solid defense and consistent offense. They ultimately sum up a team, with a remarkable absence of ego or describing oneself in the third person.

This website is first-class, with java and javascript tricks that are sublimely excellent. There's a chat, RealAudio, and great photos.

I must admit that I'm not a Yankees fan. It hacks me off that a large part of their starting pitching staff consists of players that other teams developed, but couldn't afford to keep. However, you can't deny that genius Joe Torre has this bunch of talented individuals thinking team above self. Hats off to a great individual, accomplishing something that few managers or coaches can in this day of the multimillion-dollar athlete.

Hey, Major League baseball, how about a revenue sharing plan like the NFL has? After all, we (the fans) would kind of like to see teams like Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, and Kansas City turn back into threats to the megamillion dollar Superteams.
